The 5 Keys to Finding Change That is Noticeable and Lasting

April 7, 2023

Personally, for me change has always been hard to navigate.

Like most, I'm a creature of habit. I love my routines. I have worked hard on my routines and I really am comforted by the predictability of my routines, so when change is even considered, parts of me go into hyper panic mode. I get stressed and anxious. I find myself fearing the unknown and basically shut that notion of change down immediately, even though I know it's exactly what I need.

Our highest level of resistance to change, at times, leaves us frustrated, because we continue to lack personal progress, development and needed maturity. The fact is, for us to get to places we have never been, we are going to have to do things we have never done. That is the essence of change. Do you really want different outcomes in your life? Then you must embrace change as a needed ingredient to getting the life you deserve or the outcomes you're hoping for.

Here are five tips to help you navigate the slippery slope of change.

1 - Develop new practices that gradually, over time, will create new habits.

You have to replace the old with the new. Don't try to make all the changes at once. Prioritize what's important, conquer that and move on to the next. Remember, patience is a partner in progress.

2 - Set your clear goals and take action.

You can dream about change, but the real changes are after you wake up from the dream and do something about it. Be specific. Don't expect massive change overnight. Remember, old habits are hard to break. Give it time.

3- Practice mindfulness and gratitude.

You have to stay on a heightened level of awareness at all times, because falling back into the old is easy to do and will happen before you know it. Remember, the way you think is the beginning of the way you behave. Find time in your day to stop asking for things and be grateful for what you have been given.

4 - Find your go-to crowd.

You have to have people who aren't afraid to tell you no, around you. They keep you accountable, by you being vulnerable and honest. Remember, there is no greater gift to personal growth than someone walking the journey with you. Find them and keep them close.

5 - Prioritize spiritual growth.

There are parts of you that are temporary and parts that are eternal. You will exhaust yourself and become depleted of energy, if all you focus on is satisfying those things in you that are temporary and chasing them to the bitter end. Focus some time on becoming more resourceful spiritually, along the way, and you will learn by dealing and increasing some of the forever issues in your life, how that will become influential in the new destiny you're desiring.

The road to fulfilling change can be an exciting one, and with the help of a mentor - you can stay on the path much easier than going it alone. If you're interested in my mentoring services - please contact me today to get started!
